Here's How It Works:
Backyard composting has never been easier than with the Soil Saver Garden Composter. Start by collecting items from your kitchen and yard. Kitchen items include all fruit & vegetable waste, coffee grounds & filters, tea bags, egg shells, discarded houseplants & cut flowers. From the garden, you can use leaves, dry grass clippings, hedge trimmings, and annuals. All these items are fed through the Soil Saver Garden Composter's two foot square opening at the top of the unit. Close the locking lid and let it go to work while you are relaxing in your garden! The convenient self-watering lid allows enough moisture to help break down your kitchen and garden waste into usable compost. Micro-organisms that come from the ground outside aid in the break down of this moist, well aerated material. The wall construction of the Soil Saver Garden Composter retains heat from the sun attracted by the composter's distinctive black color (active composting occurs above 50 degrees F). At higher temperatures bacteria work faster. Bacterial activity also raises temperature and can destroy weeds and seeds. Larger organisms break down material further. There are two slide-up doors on the sides of the composter for easy removal of your new soil. Finished compost is nature's own fertilizer and soil conditioner - a much better solution than the costly removal of these items by garbage trucks that then send it to further clog the landfills.
