No pesticides, No treatments--Organic and Chemical-free!
We use 100% Organic Cotton Batting as the core of our
hand-made futons. The organic cotton batting conforms to your body curves and
allows your skin to breathe. We then cover the batting with durable
Organic Cotton Fabric. No pesticides or chemical treatments are ever
used. Our futons are organic and chemical-free!
Our standard crib futons are oversized at 28" x 52", and are made to fit very
snug and tight in most standard cribs. For your baby's safety, we
use extra tufting to make our crib futons extra firm and supportive.
Different futon thicknesses are offered to
accommodate different needs and desires:
- Our 6" and 8" futons are great as single-layer sleeping surfaces--the 6"
is the thickness of choice for cribs and convertible futon frames.
- Our 3" and 4" futons are designed for layering your sleeping
surface with two or more futons-- making them easier to flip, air, and roll
Organic Cotton Only...
Our organic cotton futons are free of chemical flame retardants. A doctor's prescription is required to purchase an
all cotton futon. A simple prescription from a stated-licensed M.D., naturopath or chiropractor simply stating that "patient requires bedding without chemical flame retardants" will suffice. You may fax this prescription to Abundant Earth at 847-485-5169

Organic Cotton and Natural Wool...
Alternatively, you may order your futon with natural wool. Our
chemical-free natural wool from free-range New England sheep (no chemicals used
on the sheep and only biodegradable soap used to process the wool) will also satisfy the flame retardant requirement.
The natural wool batting is wrapped around the organic cotton batting. This wool wrap is added to the inside of the futon
and precludes the need for any flame retardant chemicals or Dr.'s prescription. The wool also adds extra resiliency,
some dust mite resistance, improved thermal comfort (cooler in hot humid weather
and warmer is cool dry weather), and anti-microbial benefits from the natural
lanolin in the wool.

or Organic Cotton Barrier Cloth Cover...and don't
forget to top your new futon with an Organic Cotton
Comforters!
Please note that 6" and 8" futons (as well as 4" Queen and
King Futons) will usually have a metal zipper closure installed along the side
of the futon. This zipper is installed as an aid used during the construction of
your futon. The zippered closure is for construction purposes only and is not
intended to be used as a functional zipper. For an extra fee, your futon may be
constructed without the use of a metal zipper. Please let us know if you would
like a futon without a zipper.
