The Highland Futon Sofa-Bed offers simple handcrafted quality and beauty in solid American Ash.

Each carefully handcrafted solid American hardwood piece of furniture in the Willowcrest line is marked by exceptional quality and design details you have come to expect from an Abundant Earth line of furniture. The Highland Futon Sofa-Bed with its stunning Mission style design, is both beautiful and durable at the same time. The Highland Futon Sofa-Bed is intedned be used with a futon (order futon separately). The Highland Futon Sofa-Bed is available only in the Full size.

Our Willowcrest Platform Beds and Bedroom Furniture products are made with the finest second-growth (no old growth) solid American Ash. Ash is an exceptional hardwood for making furniture as it's harder than Red Oak and almost as hard as Hard Maple and it presents a beautifully patterned grain. Finish options include Unfinished, Clear Coat, Golden Oak Stain,Walnut Stain and Cinnamon Stain are included at no additional cost. Pure White Paint, Milk White Paint, Black Paint and Espresso Tone are available for an additional fee. A Water-Based Clear Coat is also available for an additional fee (The Clear Coat sample shown below represents both the standard Clear Coat and the Water-Based Clear Coat). 

All Willowcrest frames have durable metal-on-metal connectors (includes wood plugs that may be installed over exposed screws) and are easy to assemble and disassemble if necessary. Some assembly is required.

The Highland Futon Sofa-Bed Features:

Slats: All Willowcrest futon sofa-bed frames come with solid hardwood slats (typically of soft maple, ash or beech). Our platform beds are made for futons 6" or more tall. Some futons fold better than others. Please make sure your futon can fold. While the slats support the futon and the frame helps hold your futon in place, it may be neccessary to use rubber grip pads to keep your futon from sliding. 

Finish: Our formaldehyde-free finish options include Unfinished, Clear Coat, Golden Oak Stain,Walnut Stain and Cinnamon Stain are included at no additional cost. Pure White Paint, Milk White Paint, Black Paint and Espresso Tone are available for an additional fee. These finish options are both formaldehyde-free and the VOCs dissipate rapidly after the finish is applied. A low-VOC Water-Based Clear Coat finish is also available for an additional fee. Please Note:  For people with wool or chemical sensitivities (MCS) or odor sensitivities, we strongly recommend ordering your bed unfinished and applying your own finish. Sofa and Bed Positions:  The First Position is more upright than other folding futon frames on the market. This more upright position offers more support  and comfort than most frames and is very much like a traditional sofa configuration (depending on the futon used). The Second Position is achieved by openin the frame to the flat Bed Position, and then sliding the frame up into a similar position as First Position except with a 2” recline for a more relaxed sofa experience. To return to the First Position, slide the frame back into the Bed Position and then slide into back into the First Position. To go from First Position to the flat Bed Position, you must make sure the seat is lifted and the back pulled forward (toward you) into a 90 degree angle for the frame to slide into the Bed Position. Do this carefully because if you force it, it will break the frame.
