Buckwheat hulls are noisy. They make swishing and crunching sounds as you lay the weight of your head and neck against them. Because your ear tends to be right up against the pillow, it may sometimes sound like an ocean wave is crashing on your head as you adjust your pillow to your perfect comfort position. Of course, the noise quickly settles down after you adjust your pillow and usually remains calm and quite until you shift again. For most people who use a buckwheat hull pillow for the first time, the sound can be a bit disconcerting. However, just ask any buckwheat hull pillow veteran and they'll tell you that in a very short period of time you'll be used to the sound and it won't bother you at all. On rare occasions (very rare) someone may not appreciate the swishing and crunching sounds of the buckwheat hulls--even after extended use. We mention this in the spirit of full disclosure.
