5-Micron Fresh Air Pre-Filter:
The 5-Micron Fresh Air Pre-Filter removes all particles from the air larger than 5 microns, extending the life of the HEPA filter and protecting the gas absorbing media from dust coating and fouling. This pre-filter media has a high dust retention capacity due to the crinkled fibers, which offer maximum surface area. The media is treated with a fire retardant additive for safety purposes. It has a high reliability in all operating conditions including those of extremely high humidity. 3 separate layers of proprietary gas absorption media are unique to each Sun-Pure filter pack. This special gas media is designed to remove toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, paint solvents, aerosol sprays, cleaning chemicals, pesticides, chlorine, and ozone that may be found in the home environment.

Extremely large 24 square feet HEPA Filter removes allergens so small they can only be seen by a microscope. Ultraviolet Disinfection:
Widely used in hospitals and research laboratories, ultraviolet light deactivates air borne germs, bacteria, and viruses. A unique feature to the Sun-Pure air purifier is the use of ultraviolet light to destroy microorganisms in the air. Located safely inside the unit is an ultraviolet lamp producing 10,000 times the ultraviolet light intensity of normal sunlight. Ultraviolet light attacks viruses and bacteria by destroying the RNA and DNA complex. Once this complex is destroyed the disease causing organisms can no longer reproduce themselves.

Ultraviolet technology is very important in preventing the spread of air borne disease from one person to another and by central heating and air conditioning systems. Ultraviolet technology breaks the chain in air borne disease-causing organisms that lead to the continuous cycle known as "sick house disease".
 

Frequently Asked Questions:
(Q) Can the filters be cleaned?
(A) Yes, but only the 5-micro pre-filter. We recommend simply vacuuming off the excess material collected on the front of the green pre-filter approximately every six months. The second stage HEPA filter cannot be cleaned and both, filters must be replaced when the control panel indicates replacement.
 

(Q) My control panel indicates the ultraviolet lamp must be replaced, but I can see it operating. Is it absolutely necessary to replace the lamp?
(A) Yes, even though the ultraviolet lamp is operating it has diminished ultraviolet output. To keep the system killing germs and bacteria effectively, the ultraviolet lamp must be replaced once a year or the equivalent elapsed time of one year.
 

(Q) I notice a slight odor when I am close to my new air filters.
(A) You will notice a slight odor exiting from the air purifier filters when it is very new. This odor will only be present for a couple of days, and comes from accumulated moisture in the gas absorbing carbon, potassium permanganate, and zeolite layers of the filter pack.
 

(Q) I have removed either the top or front grill to examine my air purifier, and now the unit will not turn on. What is wrong with the unit?
(A) Both the top and front grill have safety interlocks that will turn the unit off if removed while in operation. If either grill is not properly reinstalled the unit will not operate. Make sure the top grill is completely snapped into place and the front grill is completely secured at the bottom.
